The island's name is translated as "Beautiful Island". Pangkor Island was previously a places for fishermen, pirates and was an important site from which to control trading in the Strait of Melaka. The road that runs along the east coast of the island turns west in Pangkor Town and crosses the island to one of the most famous beaches on the west cost of the island is called Pasir Bogak. This island is located about 90 km south west from Ipoh. In addition, for the most famous local product of the island is ikan bilis and other dried fish products that are provided by the locals. At Pulau Pangkor, there are two island which is Pulau Giam and Pulau Mentagor are fenced by strikingly beautiful corals, sea cucumbers and fishes. Mostly tourists will enjoy this location so much because it is a great destination for snorkeling activities. Apart from snorkeling, tourists will also do a water sport activities that will keep them occupied and entertained.
The Foo Lin Kong Temple is a fairly new Taoist temple. It build at the foot of Pangkor Hill in the village of Sungai Pinang Besar. The temple has a nice garden partly build on the hillside. On the roof we can see the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac. The are turtles and plenty of different fish in the ponds around the temple.

There are many ways we can reach at Pangkor Island :
1. By Car :
Pulau Pangkor is about a 3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. We need to follow route 5 until arrive at Sitiawan. Then, follow signs to Lumut. For the public parking it cost about RM 5.00 a day. Display coupons can be purchased at many shops along Jalan Sultan Idris Shah in Lumut. There's a carpark across from the Pangkor Laut Resort Office that charges RM8 per day.
2. By Ferry :
From Lumut, there are ferries taking passengers across to Pangkor Island for about RM 6.00 one way leaves every ½ hour. There are many trips available from morning until night to reach at Pangkor Island.
